The twist explains how she knew so much about the watchers, their history with people, their burrows, and the rules to stay alive in the forest. unlike the rest of the watchers, however, madeline was different because she was part human. long ago, when the watchers were still living alongside people, some of them had children together. Our review: parents say (2 ): kids say (6 ): an interesting premise and talented cast can't save this shyamalan family affair from being a middling horror flick that skimps on world building. it's quite possible that shine's book spends more time explaining the context of the central mystery, but the movie's third act twist is so poorly.
