How far off the radiator is the frame of the aftermarket fan? if the new fan is too close to the radiator, you end up blocking the rest of the radiator from having any useful airflow. that wouldn't be good. 11 sept 01, the day the world as we knew it ended.

Radiator Cooling Fan Upgrade Pennock S Fiero Forum I pulled up to the drive thru last week, the cooling fan kicked on, it was embarassing noisy, vibration, etc went to lane automotive and purchased a spal 16 inch puller fan, model # spa30100231 $98.00 if you cut the 4 arms that hold the original fan and motor flush with the rest of the shroud, the spal will set right in the shroud like it was made for it. i used 4 machine screws with lockwas. The fiero specs are not listed but i highly doubt its cooling fan flows more than the 1990 3.1l camaro 14" cooling fan at 1050 cfm through the radiator. the 16" fan for the camaro moves 1150 cfm through the radiator and so does the cooling fan in this thread from the volvo according to the hayden site.
