But my personal experience purple belt was the best! that’s when things started to slow down for me and i was able to develop my game. and i’m a smaller guy under 150lbs so at purple belt is when i started comfortably going against big white belts, purple is when the fun begins!!!.

Purple Belt V High Level Female Competitor Purple Belt Gi Rol As a white belt, i should not even post anything here, but i watched how others roll in the last torunament and the biggest difference between white blue and low purple vs brown and some other purple belts was that they were calm. waaaaay calmer, than lower belts. they were more like playing chess instead of going ham. Ideally, a purple belt should strive to attend every class they can. if someone has put in the time, energy, and rolls to obtain a purple belt, it can be assumed that they are deeply passionate about jiu jitsu. acting like a purple belt. speaking of passion, getting to purple belt is one thing, while being a purple belt is another game entirely. At purple belt, you start to develop a game. if the idea of being a white belt is survival and learning fundamental moves, then the idea of being a blue belt is to expand your game and have fun with new positions and moves. by purple belt, you should have improved your technique in all areas and have a fairly broad knowledge of the moves in bjj. 2. bottom game. from the bottom, bjj purple belt requirements spread to much more than just the closed guard, and an open guard variation or two. a blue belt should be comfortable from their back, having at least a couple of closed guard variations and at least three (preferably more) open guards.

It has been said that a purple belt has the same knowledge as a black belt, but simply lack the experience and refinement that comes with years upon years on the mats. let that sink in a minute. my first roll with a purple belt. as a white belt, i remember the first time that i ever trained with a purple belt. i was nervous. It's nice because the browns and blacks take you seriously when rolling but you still have plenty of lower belts for "research purposes". purple is a belt that is hard for many to obtain. it's the belt where it finally feels like you are part of "the club." lots of people who get to blue, tend to drop off soon after.
