How To Solder Smd Correctly Part 1 Smd Soldering Tutorial Youtube An in depth tutorial showing how to solder surface mount parts. covering the tools, techniques and tips that can really help learn how to properly solder ele. Step 2: apply solder paste to pcb. for a small pcb with few components, you can just spread solder paste on the pads manually, but for complex pcbs, a stencil, as shown in the picture, is needed. once you have the board firmly held on the table (as shown), place the stencil over it, and apply a little bit of solder paste. Cut some braid off and pick it up with the forceps, the braid gets super hot in the next steps. place the braid over the big blobs of solder, still holding it with your forceps. place your soldering iron over the spot where the blob is, also on top of the braid, the braid should start getting silver, leave it there for 1 3 seconds after you see. In this instructables, i will show you my 3 techniques of smd soldering using hot air re flow soldering station, hot plate and normal soldering iron. i will use smd stencil for applying solder paste in first two methods and normal 25w solder iron and solder wire for hand soldering. you may use any one method whichever you feel it easier.

Place and align the chip using tweezers. hold the chip in place while touching the corner pad with the tip of the soldering iron so that the solder melts the pin and the pad together. check the alignment of the chip. if it is not in its place, use your soldering iron to loosen the pin chip and align the chip properly. Apply a small amout of solder on one pad. then, with fine tweezers in one hand and your soldering iron in the other, place the component over its footprint’s pads. present the component and reflow the pad. when you’re ready, while maintaining the component with the tweezers, place your iron tip in contact with the solder blob.
