Elementary Art Lessons Annie Monaghan S Art Room To begin this project, students each drew their own large robot design on a piece of 12" x 18" paper. they had to use lots of different shapes and be creative and silly with their designs. once their drawings were done, they used a light blue tempera cake to color their entire robot. 1.v.1.2 create original art that expresses ideas, themes, and events. 1.v.1.3 recognize that symbols, subjects, or themes are used in the works of others to communicate. 1.v.1.4 understand characteristics of the elements of art, including lines, shapes, colors, textures, form, and space. 1.v.2.3 create art from imaginary sources of inspiration.
Elementary Art Lessons Annie Monaghan S Art Room Each student begins with a styrofoam bowl. make sure to write the students name on the bottom with sharpie before beginning. this will save you a lot of hassle, i promise. the first day was spent creating the flower petals. they each started with a slab of clay and cut out 10 15 diamond (or oval or almond) shapes. In the elementary art room, the schedule can be rather unpredictable, to say the least. often, students attend art once a week. this seemingly standard protocol can be interrupted by special events, snow days, substitute guest teachers, that last random day with students before summer break, and really—you name it. Students explored warm and cool colors. for this lesson students went outside and found a leaf. we came back inside and drew our leaf on a 5in square, students were instructed to have their drawing touch all four sides of the paper.
