Driveline Vibration U Joints At Joyce Phillips Blog With the exception of the centering yoke, i replaced all u joints with spicer non greaseable u joints. i installed a new spicer greaseable centering yoke. the old u joints were greaseable. the u joints in the front driveshaft had been replaced somewhere along the line. the rear driveshaft had the original u joints. Sometimes this yoke run out problem can be improved by rotating the u joint 180 degrees in the rear end differential yoke. driveshaft related vibrations usually occur at roughly engine speed in high gear. wheel axle vibrations usually occur at 1 3 rd engine speed or driveshaft speed because of the differential gearing.

Driveline Vibration U Joints At Joyce Phillips Blog Hello, i am in the process of troubleshooting a drive line vibration on my stock ride height 2001 chevy s10 extended cab (2wd, automatic, with v6). the vibration is most noticeable at higher road speeds. accelerating changes the vibration a slight amount but not drastically. i have had the tuck into the gm dealer 4 times for this issue in the. When the driveshaft operates at intersecting angles, the u joints spin in oval circles, and that creates vibration because the driveshaft isn’t operating at a constant speed. you eliminate the problematic intersecting angle by creating the proper driveshaft operating angle. now let’s go back to our superman x ray vision. Ok, here is a quick update on this vibration issue. we took the rear shaft out and all looks good new u joints were pressed in correctly and feel good nothing is binding, nothing is loose. we took out a front drive shaft (it had new u joints installed recently) and took it out for a spin to eliminate the chance of the front u joint acting. 266 posts · joined 2001. #1 · dec 20, 2012. i posted the fix for a bad vibration in another thread, but it's buried and i wanted to post separately for anyone doing a search on u joints. i'd had a bad vibration between around 50 60 mph while under load. took my foot off the accelerator and the vibration stopped immediately.
