Next Steps For Economies Of The Middle East Conversable Econo The 20 countries of the middle east and north africa region have a population of 486 million, a combined gdp of $3.7 trillion, and a gdp per capita of about $7,600. the questions of politics and armed violence in this region, along with details of how covid has affected this area, are both obviously important. The middle east and north africa region contains about half of the world's proven reserves of oil and natural gas. this has already proven to be a mixed blessing for economic growth in the region, and in a world economy where many countries are making efforts to reduce carbon emitting sources of energy, a dependence on production of fossil fuels will be even more problematic. But in the big picture, the action is mostly about countries in asia, which accounted for about 71% of all foreign students in the us in 2022 23: for comparison, total foreign students from europe and from latin american are both less than 10% of total foreign students in the us, and the middle east north africa region is less than 5% of the us.
