Bone Grafting Rolla Oral Surgery There may be inadequate bone for implant placement if your tooth was removed many years ago and your bony ridge is extremely thin. in this case, a bone graft can be placed next to the thin bone and allowed to heal for up to six months. after the graft has fused to your pre existing bone, the ridge will be re entered and the implant placed. Do your best to not disturb or agitate area of bone graft in any way. leave area alone in order to assure an adequate healing process; continue normal hygiene – brush your teeth twice a day. do not brush the graft area for 3 weeks or until your next visit to our office. a soft food diet is recommended for 3 weeks.
