Found My Transmission Overheating Issue 48re Running Hot Diesel 164 posts · joined 2013. #1 · may 13, 2013. i have recently been having a problem with my 2003 impala 3.4 heating up overheating, only once has the temperature gauge gone into the red, but it is regularly heating up over what i call "normal", which is 2 marks below the center of the gauge. it started out about a week ago, i had just turned. Tried doing an exit to exit loop on the freeway and as soon as i stop needle touches the red run it a couple seconds in the 3k rpm zone and drops right back down. heater air is hot. so i have hot heat, fans are blowing, hot upper and lower radiator hoses, coolant and cold fill line. gets hot when i slow down. please help me out. 10587 posts · joined 2005. #11 · feb 5, 2011. i would also remove the pcv hose from the tb, see if it is gunked up, as well as give the pcv a shake and see if it still "rattles". it may be that the pcv passage in the tb is full and blocked off. 1989 chevrolet blazer 3.4. 1989 chevrolet blazer 4.3 4x4. Made a big improvement. and on the 4.3 the coil is a high failure item if the spark isn't white replace the coil. sound to me the fuel pump check valve is bad, which can be tested with a fuel pressure leak down test. is the pressure drops significantly with the key off, its time to replace the pump.
