Similar thing happened last year to my 2011 4.2l at 117k miles. the plastic coolant crossover pipe had a crack and needed to be replaced. i finally got tired of topping off my coolant every few days and had an indie shop fix it for $1700. common issue, apparently. good luck! thanks for your feedback.
Audi A8l Coolant System Fault Received 1 like on 1 post. 4.2l coolant leak at union. my 2012 a8l 4.2l started leaking coolant from the rear of the engine right before christmas. i finally had time to take some things apart and found the leak is coming from the coolant union on the rear of the engine driver's side. part is 079 121 127 f. has anyone else had this issue?. Received 1 like on 1 post. coolant leak, 4.0t. new to me 2013 a8l, 4.0t. no heat when i bought it, got that fixed but it also has a coolant leak by the thermostat. leaking from 15 16 in the diagram. there are a couple of split vacuum lines in there also. i have the bumper off but nothing else, and this is ridiculously difficult to get to. I did end up using an metal pipe. the project took me actually 4 hours.if you start working on it and already know the steps, it can be done way faster.i rea. Never did the wp on one of these thanks though, i'll do a bit of research! 1, that is exactly where coolant puddles when the water pump seal starts to leak. i.e., the shaft from the pulley to the impeller seal leaks, may as well replace the entire assembly with thermostat. that's the engine speed sensor.
