The Impact Of Climate Change Induced Extreme Events On Agriculture And This paper presents an empirical analysis of the effects of global warming on nigerian agriculture and estimation of the determinants of adaptation to climate change. data used for this study are from both secondary and primary sources. the set of secondary sources of data helped to examine the coverage of the three scenarios (1971 1980; 1981. Table 2.1 summarizes the main drivers and mechanisms of climate impact on cropping systems, which were reviewed by bongaarts (1994), rosenzweig et al. (2001), boote et al. (2010), kimball (2010), and porter et al. (2014). notably, direct climate impacts include both damage and benefits as well as opportunities for farm level adaptations.

Climate Change Adaptation In Nigerian Agricultural Sector A Systematic Climate change will impact farmers and their agricultural systems in different ways, and adapting to these impacts will need to be context specific.current adaptation efforts on the continent are increasing across the continent, but it is expected that in the long term these will be insufficient in enabling communities to cope with the changes. Climate change and agriculture are interconnected and occurs on a worldwide scale, with climate change’s negative consequences affecting crop production both directly and indirectly (anthony et al. 2021). temperature, rainfall, frost, wind, relative humidity, etc., are all climatic factors that affect crop production. All of these have an impact on crop yields coupled with other agricultural activities in nigeria as the agricultural production systems in nigeria are paradoxically more reliant on natural resources, most especially rainfall (olayide and alabi 2018). climate change does not only affect crops, but also has huge effect on animal farming. Public interventions to transform agriculture and food systems in nigeria in a way that ends hunger, makes diets healthier and more affordable, improves the productivity and incomes of small scale producers and their households, and mitigates and adapts to climate change. the financing gap in nigeria is immense.

Climate change is happening due to natural factors and human activities. it expressively alters biodiversity, agricultural production, and food security. mainly, narrowly adapted and endemic species are under extinction. accordingly, concerns over species extinction are warranted as it provides food for all life forms and primary health care for more than 60–80% of humans globally. More than 12 million people benefited from the $900 million nigeria erosion and watershed project (newmap) that reinforced the country’s ability to fight climate induced erosion, natural hazards, and disasters. 52,000 jobs in the sectors promoting climate adaptation direct and indirect were created through the first sovereign green bonds. 23 states adopted innovative integrated.
